I've been looking forward to writing 2016 on checks for a while now, because my "5"'s are always sloppy. Good reason, right?!
I've decided to join up with Teresa at Eden Hills for her new meme...Friday's Hunt.
This week we have...
Starts with "A"...
I'm going with Above Average...
You can't see a thermometer here, but our December temps were way above average. In fact, it just might go down as the warmest December on record. You can see the green (needing mowed in December?!) grass and the fog, and indication of the warm, damp weather we had most of the month...
This is my "Week's Favorite"...
My nephew Toby with Jolyn the cat. She's never happier than when on someone's shoulder...after she's been fed, of course...
And last is "Celebrate"...
We celebrated my family's Christmas today, on New Years Day. Anyone who went away hungry, did so because they chose not to eat. We had numerous types of sausages, pork and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, roasted brussels sprouts, and much, much more...
My parents still usually host us all for our family meals. I know they won't be able to do this forever, but we all pitch in and work together. We are all thankful for their good health, and for a family that enjoys being together...
Thanks so much for joining in. We've been warm and muddy until just the last week. It looks like you had a great celebration with your family. That's what makes the holiday season so special for me.
ReplyDeleteHowdy and Happy New Year! We have been getting your cold (well...for us anyway) weather down here in Arizona. What a lovely family gathering, definitely something to celebrate!
ReplyDeleteWe've had above average warm temperatures here too but now we have snow on the ground.
ReplyDeleteI love family meals when family gets together. How fortunate to still have your mom and dad.
Your meal looks lovely and tasty.
Happy New year Alica. Wishing you and your family God's Choicest Blessings
for the New Year.
Thanks for your gift of comments on my blog.
Hugs,
JB
Love the photos of your family celebration!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!

Oh, I didn't know about new meme- will have to check it out. It looks like you've had a wonderful holiday week- Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteJolyn is a sweet kitty! It was a warm December here north of Toronto too but January has started out pretty normal with snow and some ice. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHello, I am visiting from Teresa's new linky party. Great shot for the photo hunt. Your nephew with the kitty is cute, nice shot of your family. May your New Year be filled with peace, love and joy! Happy New Year to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteAbove average! Love that! :D
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Oh I love everything about this post. Friday hunt is a wonderful thing but you my friend do not have to hunt for all the good things in your life. HUGS HUGS B
ReplyDeleteHow nice. It looks like a great start to a new year.
ReplyDeleteI hope your 2016 is a great one.
Blessings to you and yours.
How lucky to have above average temps. We've been in an Arctic freeze here! Thanks for sharing pic with us, and that green grass! Seeing green puts a smile on my face... esp. at this time of year :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you in this new year.
~K.
Love the photo of your big barn in the morning (or evening). The food looks excellent and I think writing six instead of five is a great reason to enjoy this year. Happy 2016!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes. We have all our cold temps and all yours too. Trade you some mud for some frozen fingers.
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly been a weird winter. It's been markedly colder than usual here in Montana. I have a very small goat dairy - VERY small. I'm here by way of Eden Hills.
ReplyDeleteDoes Jolyn have two different color eyes?
ReplyDeleteLooks like lots of good food there!!
Good idea to have your family Christmas on New Year's Day if there are several commitments on the Christmas Day. We had our family Christmas on December 6. Traditionally we eat, I read St. Luke's account of Jesus birth, and the we do a white elephant gift exchange.
ReplyDeleteOur youngest daughter has Christmas Day noon meal for us and her in-laws and her family of four. This just started last year as the were in London, U.K, for five tears. This year we had it here because they were in Barbados for a week and came back Christmas Eve.
The 6th we had the five kids and three spouses, four grandkids and spouses and two great grandkids, and two younger grandkids not married. One great granddaughter and one DilL were absent. Also a niece with Hubby, three kids, a spouse and a great sometimes. We are getting pretty old though to have it too many more times.
Happy New Year!!! Later I will figure out your farming operation. I grew up on a farm 35 miles north of Omaha up in the hills. Was born in the farmhouse also.
..
Our December was way above average too. I'm visiting from the Friday Hunt.
ReplyDeleteOur Weather is way above normal. But this week we are looking at having -0 coming. Love the pictures.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and Happy New Year! I look forward to your adventures this year. Glad you had time with family.
ReplyDeleteAlicia,
ReplyDeleteI would be willing to guess that we had above average December temperatures too. It's nice to be able to work outside and be comfortable and able to do a few projects. We have just the right amount of snow, the brown is covered up and the snow is not deep.
Gots to love a friendly barn cat and time with family! Happy New Year to you!
While you had the warmer temps, we got the chilly ones that is unusual for us in California. Not complaining. It's nice to have a cold winter with hopefully much needed rain. Your feast sounds and looks heavenly. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe View from the Top of the Ladder
that first photo of your barn is absolutely lovely - a framer, I think!
