Bundle up...

Brrr...

I know, a lot of you have much colder temperatures for longer periods of time, but we've been spoiled so far this winter!

Not any more...

This morning it felt like it was below zero, with the wind.  Hearing the wind blow at night is an unsettling feeling.  We drained water lines, but still...you don't know exactly what might be frozen in the morning.  Thankfully the wind had died down some 'til morning, and there were no major problems. I had frozen water buckets at the hutches and in the chicken pen, but that's to be expected.

Last night we put the insulated coats on the hutch calves.  Doesn't she look toasty?

We are anticipating the first snow storm of the winter here this weekend. There are lots of mixed opinions on what might happen...and what folks are excited about happening....or not.

Me?  I'm ready for spring!

  2. Me too!!
I so want spring to come early this year.
Unlike your part of the country, we have had snow, snow, and more snow. I forgot what grass looks like ***giggle**.
    Stay warm!

  3. Nothing colder or more mean than a winter wind. The calf coats look super. Wish we'd had them for our babies when I was a kid on the farm. Heck, I wish I'd had such a cool coat back then. Stay warm. Deep snow here in E. Idaho.

  4. It's -11°C. here or 12.2°F. and the wind is blowing the loose snow around. It always feel colder when the wind blows. Those little calf jackets comes in handy. I always feel sorry for the animals when I feel cold but their skin is thicker than our and they can tolerate the cold better than us and they have fur coats.

I'm looking forward to Spring too. With December gone and January almost gone, and February a shorter month it won't be very long before Spring starts to reappear.
Warm hugs on this blustery day.
    Hugs,
