Do you see what I see?
You might have to strain to see it, because the lighting isn't very good. But...there are rows of green running down through the field.
This is the field where the cows were grazing in the rye grass. Jim also took a second cutting off of this field before burning it off and having corn planted.
On Monday.
It grew that fast! Almost immediately after the field was planted, we had 1" of heavy rain. Then the heat and humidity set in, and the corn came up quicker than I've ever seen it before!
I guess the summer weather we've had this week really is good for something (other than growing the weeds in my garden and the grass in our yard!)
How nice to see that! I think it only took a couple of days before the popcorn and sweet corn came up here, too.
ReplyDeleteyay!
ReplyDeleteIt's almost impossible to grow corn here, unless you start it in a green house. All ours comes as imports. :-{
ReplyDeleteSounds like it is off to a good start. Mine is almost a foot tall. It is almost impossible to grow corn here in the hills, but I want to grow sweet corn.
ReplyDeleteWow, you guys are really having a great growing season. That is great farming.
ReplyDeleteWe stopped growing corn as the birds and the racoons did so much damage every year that it was discouraging. We tried everything to scare the birds away but the came in huge flocks and picked open each ear of corn and what they wouldn't eat would spoil.
Hugs,
JB
You are definitely making the most of that piece of ground! Way to go.
ReplyDeleteWOW it sure does help grow things all this rain it has been quite the challenge to do hay though. I am OK with that for now but must admit I am a little worried. I imagine your garden is doing very very well. Hug B
ReplyDeleteWOW, I thought I was lucky with my beans coming up in five days! That's great!
ReplyDeleteYour new corn looks great! Looks like it's loving that warm humidity. It must be a mixed blessing to have such a nice long growing season so you can grow and harvest back-to-back crops.
ReplyDeleteNice to see your corn growing so fast. Yes, the heat/humidity has made the weeds in the garden grow at break neck speed!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your growing season is going well. We're finally catching up after having such a long winter and no spring to speak of. We're way behind on the growing season.
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing. That is what I have noticed though with this year. My garden loves this heat.
ReplyDeleteDown the road around the corner "the corn is as high as an elephants eye " ~ guess thats real good for the 4th of July ;)
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing yours popped up so soon after planting.
