Traffic jams aren't reserved for the roads, apparently.
This was what I found when I fed the chickens this morning...
The bottom row is popular. No matter that there are seven nesting boxes on the top! As you can see, some chickens prefer the straw in the corner of the shed. I left them alone, came back a little later, and found these...
Meanwhile, this group was diligently searching for any leftovers from the strawberry hulls that I tossed into the pen earlier. I guess they'll lay their eggs later...
Egg count 22 by 8:00 am. Thanks ladies!
Awww -- love your chickens! It looks so green and spring-y there. Happy Sunday Alica!
ReplyDeleteLooks like some happy and productive hens! Is that alfalfa they have to roam in? Happy, happy, happy! I'm looking forward to ours starting their laying, maybe by the Fourth of July.
ReplyDeleteRay...it's actually just a mixture of grass and weeds...unfortunately a lot of weeds! But they are very happy eating all the bugs they can find in there! :)
Deleteso cute! i saw your title and thought it would be cattle, for sure. :)
ReplyDeleteOh Alica I love your kind of traffic jam. Nice eggs:) Happy Sunday. B
ReplyDeleteSilly chickens!! I wonder why they all want to use the same nesting box? Mine do the same thing. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, good for your hens, Alica! I got only 8 eggs out of the henspa today, there are at least 15 big girls in there no longer laying.
ReplyDeleteMy total egg count for the day was 12 chicken eggs (mostly bantam) and 5 duck eggs.
Those are some hard working ladies!
ReplyDeleteOur chickens are the same! Three nests yet they all lay in one.
ReplyDeleteWe aren't getting as many eggs now; three girls have decided to set...I know my eggs aren't fertile so we are just collect all the eggs and hope they will give it up. I love the beautiful dark brown of your eggs. I get a mixed bag of colors.
Nice!!! LOVE fresh eggs!
ReplyDeleteWhat good hens!! I always love that they have their favorite nest boxes. I love my hens.
ReplyDeleteYour eggs are so pretty and brown.
What hard working ladies! I have one or two boxes that seem to be the most popular too.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like chickens are as bad as people when it comes to thinking what everyone else has must be the best even when there are better choices all around. Still your little hens produce some beautiful eggs.

Nothing like a country traffic jam. That is my kind of pile up. They sure look like happy chickens.
