More Chicken Antics...

Leave it to the chickens to amuse me, when the routine of life becomes, well...very routine.

The chickens can't see the house from their pen, because of the row of shrubs along the garden.  It's easy to sneak up on them...

It doesn't take much.  Maybe they hear me...or see a shadow...but as soon as they sense that someone is coming, they race for the gate.  Maybe they'll get a treat...who knows?

Ah...yes!  Peach peelings!  Their anticipation was not in vain...

Silly chickens!

  1. I love all of the green grass your chickens have. In fact I love your chicken pen. I will have to show my husband your yard for them, he keeps coming up with different designs and I think yours is just perfect. Chickens are just so entertaining.

  2. I love watching my grandma's chickens fight over silly food scrapes! It was the highlight of the day for me as a kiddo. Now, I'm dying to get chickens again but it'll be a couple years :(

  3. Ahh, lucky chickens to get the peach peelings. You have lots of chickens and their enclosure is no tidy and neat. I hope that you have some peach flavoured eggs for your effort.

    Have a nice week.

  5. I didn't especially like chickens in my younger years; I was a cow man! But I do enjoy them now. They do have quite the personalities. Mine really like cantaloupe "innards", as well as cull tomatoes.
I,too, like your big green area for them to roam.

  6. Your chickens do have nice living quarters plus great treats. I wish I could get eggs from you. We usually get eggs from the big store. The yolks are so pale and I try not to think about the life of the hens that laid them.

  10. I love your chicken set up. I don't blame them if peaches (peelings) are on the menu. Chickens are a hoot. I may get some next year.

  12. Alica, how on earth do you keep GRASS in your pen? And no windows in the coop building? I've never had a yard where chickens are cooped have a stick of grass after a month.

    1. Mary Ann...I'm surprised too, that there's so much grass left in the pen. They do have some areas scratched off on the other side, and some big holes that they've dug, but it's much better than most years. We've had a lot of rain, and that has helped. There are windows in the far end of the shed, which you can't see...and I keep the doors wide open, so they get plenty of light. They spend most of the time outside this time of year. There's also a little chicken door on the west side of the shed which gives light and ventilation. :)

  17. Hilarious! Chickens are so personable. My parents had chickens growing up, and it was one of my greatest joys to run around the yard with those little yellow fluff balls chasing me.
