Ouch...

Look what I found in the chicken pen this afternoon...

Ouch!  I'll bet that hurt!

  7. One of the first eggs from my pullets was kinda like that. She should have laid it a few days earlier and quit laying the extra shell on it!

  8. A friend started seeing "rough" eggs and within a few days she almost lost the flock from infection but she caught it in time. Of course old hens can lay these eggs or new hens who hold onto them too long. Hope it was just one of those days for the hen! I haven't made it to your farm yet. I fell in the corn field and am wearing a black eye right now and some sore limbs...Summer is leaving too quick this year!

  13. I have seen eggs like this before, and always hoped the chicken was fine. Notice there's no blood on it! It had to have been hurting coming out!
