As I've been reflecting over the past year...and life in general...and reading Facebook posts about New Years resolutions...and blog posts about the same...I've done some thinking about what is important to me...or more importantly what I want to focus on...
After losing a good friend this summer to a bicycle accident...and more recently watching friends lose loved ones, my thoughts have turned more contemplative.
I want to spend more quality time with family...with friends...and spend time building relationships with the people that I rub shoulders with.
Maybe it's taking time to play a game with the kids in the evening, even though I'm tired...(and always get beat soundly in ping pong) :)...
Maybe it's learning to know the "new" neighbors who moved in a week or so ago better...the potential is there for our families to become good friends...
Maybe I need to finally have that neighborhood ladies' brunch that's been on my mind for only about 10 years...
Maybe I need to spend more time building my good friendships even deeper....not assuming that they'll always be there...
Maybe...
I'm looking forward to the challenge!
I think these are worthy goals. I have finally had the good sense to bookmark your blog so I can visit regularly.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year.
Happy new Year Alicia
ReplyDeleteI love your new year resolutions . I wish you well and hope that 2013 will be a very good year for you and your family and farm.
I got a new born bull calf this morning to start the new year.
It's -17 Celsius which is 1.4 Fahrenheit here today. Very very cold...
All the best for 2012,
Hugs,
JB
What great thoughts on the New Year. As my husband and I get older, and our kids grow older, I think more about the time we spend with our kids and how quickly they are growing. Time spent with them is a precious thing.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
(I am glad to hear that there are other families who still play ping pong! :)

ReplyDeleteOh Alica I learned that lesson myself and it is so worth it. You my friend are going to do it I just know it, I wish I lived closer we could do it together the ladies thing I mean oh and maybe I could learn some ping pong. HUGS B
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas and great plans. If you are like me if it doesn't get written down it won't happen. I put a notebook next to my bed a week ago and I have one by my computer so that when those thoughts come I can write them down.
ReplyDeleteLife just gets so crazy sometimes and you are taking care of cows so that adds to your list. Will you be calving soon? Our cows were bred so that we started having babies about the last of Jan. Then we started lambing in late March so it was always so busy. Good but busy.
I hope you have a lovely year Alica.
what fun ideas! i decided to not do resolutions this year. instead im making a list of the things i want to change or add to my life! Life moves too quickly, so i try and take it one day at a time. Have a very happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a wonderful outlook for 2013! I hope this is a good year for you.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I spend more time with family, but need to spend more time with my friends. I am anxious to go to Denmark and see my longtime friend and already invited a closer friend to my home for a movie and bottle of wine. It is the people around us who define our lives.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY NEW YEAR!
ReplyDeleteI think you have set some wonderful goals for the New Year, and I agree... family and relationships are so important.
May this year be full of blessings, and much happiness for you and your family.
Smiles :)

Yeah, I get this. I agree. I've thinking of the people in the neighborhood that I want to invite over for supper and YES, I need to just DO it.
ReplyDeleteAlways up to a challenge!!! I hope that you are able to attain the ones that truly mean something to you and will bring happiness to your life. I like the playing with the kiddos. We got some more games to play as a family now that they are older and we are going to have a family game night! Looking forward to that!
ReplyDeleteVery nice post! Focusing on family, friends and building relationships is something I should do myself!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
I found your blog a few days ago and have been enjoying it. This post hit home, especially today while watching my three young grandchildren and being annoyed when my mother in law stopped by and got the youngest out of bed where he was supposed to be taking a nap, I am so fortunate to have my inlaws living not too far away and my parents. So I will treasure them all. Pam
